new year, new job, new problems.
happy new year and all that jazz.

i went to see sufjan stevens last night, he was pretty good. he did some sweet hula hooping. and played my two favourite songs as the encore.

on wednesday i got offered a job at hmv. i said SWEET, and went in on thursday morning to pick up my contract and fill in forms and stuff, and i saw i was rostered on for big day out day, i told the lady that i couldn't work that day, and she was massively unimpressed. i can see it from her point of view, that i'm new, so what right do i have to be demanding days off? but also, this is the very first time i've seen the roster, the shift is in 9 days so she hardly can say she doesn't have time to reschedule it, and i paid $130 for my BDO ticket 3 months ago. so she said she'd see what she could do to get someone to cover it. who knows what that means.

to make everything better though, i recieved my jury duty summons in the mail this morning, and now i have to ring them and tell them that :(

maybe this job is not meant for me.

Congrats on the job. Which HMV will you be working at? Will you be working with Jay and Churv? Dan and I often visit the one at the city, mainly for stalking purposes.

New jobs are fun >.> I really hope that she gets someone to cover for you and doesn't hold it against you.

As for the jury duty - that isn't your fault. It's inconvenient, but I'm sure it'll all work out fine in the long run. *hugs*

Yay for the new job! I can imagine that being right up your alley. ;) It sucks about the Big Day Out thing, but surely she should understand. It's not like you knew you'd have a new job when you bought the tickets, after all. Hopefully everything sorts itself out!

(PS - WE NEED TO HANG OUT. SOON. You don't get a choice in the matter. :P)

My holidays are peachy-keen. I'm working a lot, but that's ok, my work is more of a social experience anyway. :p Head off to the big J (lol) in April, but I'm going to make my mark in China for a month beforehand, so I'm actually leaving the country in March and going from China to Japan. :D :D :D

So, in short - six weeks. *flail* I must spend lots of time with people before then!

Good to see you're still alive!

Methinks going to BDO makes you more qualified to work at a record store. She sounded a bit miffed but I don't think it was the "you're not going to work here after all" kind of miffed. You could always buy her something from BDO to butter her up. ;)
